Post IV Sedation Instructions:
IV medications for sedation can effect your body for up to 24 hours.
You may not remember some things about your procedure including
explanations that you were given. This is not unusual if you required
at least a moderate amount of sedation. You may feel drowsy. Your
fine muscle control and judgment may also be affected. Your reaction
time can be slowed. You may not appreciate these changes, but it
is important for you to be aware of these facts and modify your
activities.
1. You must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will drive
you home after your procedure.
2. Do not drive a car or operate machinery/power tools until the
next morning.
3. Do not take any tranquilizers or sleeping pills unless specifically
ordered by your physician the day/night of the procedure.
4. Do not drink alcoholic beverages the day/night of the procedure.
5. Do not sign any legal documents the day/night following the procedure.
6. Do not assume responsibility in caring for others until you have
recovered.
